Special delivery! Northampton restaurant makes sure regular favourite Richard enjoys a free curry every week in lockdown

A Northampton restaurant is looking after one of their best customers during the lockdown by bringing a free curry to his door every week.

Out of all their customers, the Lasaan restaurant in Kingsthorpe could always count on local favourite Richard Cullis to drop in each week for a curry.

Like so many other people, the coronavirus outbreak has put Richard's usual visits on hold - but Lasaan has made sure their best customer still gets a weekly treat.

The team at Lasaan has been dropping off a free curry to the 67-year-old's house every week to thank him for his years of loyalty.

Richard told the Chronicle & Echo: "They're a class act. It's been really kind of them - it's been very very welcome and they're very nice people.

"I normally go to Lasaan at least once a week. They're only five minutes away so I have a few beers at the Whitehills pub and stop by for a curry.

"I like the lamb xacuti or the Lasaan special. They do a good chicken tikka and fish bhuna too - I've not been through the whole menu but I've tried quite a lot of it!"

Lasaan has also been providing free Indian meals on Sundays to residents in Kingsthorpe who are self-isolating.

Councillor for Castle district Enam Haque, who also owns Lasaan, said: "Richard is one of our most loyal customers since we opened six years ago.

"Since the lockdown he cannot go out and so we thought we would deliver to him once a week at least for free.

"He has been a valued customer for years. We are happy to do it."
