Proposals have been submitted to construct a manufacturing building with ancillary storage and office facilities, staff parking and HGV parking at Chelveston Renewable Energy Park based at Chelveston Airfield.

One of the buildings would be used to manufacture photovoltaic panels and frames and the other building would be used as office space to meet the administration needs of the site.

The two buildings would be south of the existing biomass facility and completely surrounded by existing solar arrays.

The plans by Wykes Engineering have been recommended for approval by planning officers, but there have been a number of objections.

East Northants Council, which will consider the plans, has received 22 letters of objection from neighbours.

Their concerns include increased traffic activity, visual and environmental impacts, noise from use of the building, impact on public rights of way and bridleways and loss of agricultural land.

Chelveston Parish Council has also objected to the application, as well as Melchbourne and Yelden Parish Council.

The plans will be discussed by members of East Northants Council’s planning management committee at a meeting tonight.

It starts at 7pm in the council chamber at East Northamptonshire House in Cedar Drive, Thrapston.
