A new occupant is being sought for a restaurant site in Northampton as the previous leaseholders have left after around eight months.

Woody's Bar and Restaurant has been closed since the lease ended on Monday (January 20), having opened in May 2019.

Adam Muxlow, of Trust Inns, which is marketing the property, said there are several parties interested in taking over the site next to Tesco Extra on Clannell Road, Merefield.

"We always get a lot of interest in this site because of the location," he said.

"It's an exciting opportunity with a big estate behind it that is very supportive so we don't want to leave it shut for too long."

Woody's, which styled itself as a sports bar with a traditional menu with a takeaway option, replaced Chillies after that closed down in early 2019.

Whoever takes on the restaurant would be free to put their own stamp on the building's interior and exterior as the leaseholders - so the site could be getting a makeover.

An opening evening was held last Monday for potential suitors but Trust Inns is still in the process of deciding who would be 'the best possible' tenant, Mr Muxlow said.
