Northampton industrial estate in line for national award

The Northampton logistics and transport estate is up for the Campaigner of the Year award thanks to its success this year in attracting over £90,000 of investment to speed up the estate and bring superfast broadband to resident businesses.

Ian Ferguson, from Partnerships for Better Business (PFBB), the company which manages Brackmills BID and a host of other BIDS across the UK, explained: “In 2014 businesses on Brackmills voted YES to renewing the estate’s status as a Business Improvement District for a second time and our detailed surveys conducted in the lead up to the vote found that top of the wish list for almost all businesses was more speed and connectivity.

“Once we knew the demand was there the BID set about looking at cost effective solutions and invested £7,000 into broadband trials, software security upgrades and a survey. This investment levered in a staggering £92,000 investment from a local broadband company, an achievement we felt should be recognised at the ATCM awards, a fitting platform to raise the profile of Brackmills nationally.

“For this reason we were delighted to nominate Brackmills for Campaigner of the Year.”

Sara Homer, Executive Chair of Brackmills BID, added: “We are delighted to be nominated, proof that businesses collaborating and working together can achieve extraordinary things. A huge thank you too to local broadband supplier Warwick Network, which has already upgraded two of the estate’s seven broadband cabinets and is set to continue speeding up Brackmills throughout 2016.”
