Drive-in cinema is RETURNING to Delapré Abbey in Northampton
Blockbuster hits being shown on the big screen include Mamma Mia, Jurassic Park, Grand Budapest Hotel and The Greatest Showman!
Northampton Filmhouse and Delapre Abbey have officially announced the return of the Drive-in Cinema this summer following last year's success.
The event - running from Saturday, May 22 to Sunday, June 6 - will feature a bumper season of films to be enjoyed on a large screen on the South Lawn, set against the beautiful and historic backdrop of Delapre Abbey.
Chief executive of Northampton Filmhouse, Jo Gordon, said: “While we wait to open the Filmhouse itself later this summer, it’s brilliant that we’re able to bring a bit of Filmhouse magic outdoors and give people that shared experience of watching film together in such a beautiful setting."
Over 20 blockbuster hit films for all the family will be shown including Mamma Mia, Jurassic Park, Tenet, Grand Budapest Hotel and Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon. There will also be sing-along screenings of The Greatest Showman, Rocketman and Frozen.
Chief executive of Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust, Richard Clinton, added: “We had a great response to last year’s Drive-In season and so I’m delighted to be working with the team at Northampton Filmhouse once again to allow even more people to experience Delapré in this exciting way.”
A delicious selection of hot food, snacks and treats will be available before each screenings. Social-distancing and enhanced hygiene measures will be in place across the Drive-In site in line with Government advice.
Drive-In tickets start from £25 per car and there will be a limited number of Cycle-in tickets available for those without access to a vehicle.
Priority booking opens to Filmhouse members on Wednesday, April 21 and the general sale will commence from Friday, 23 April. Visit the Northampton Filmhouse website to see the full schedule, book tickets and find out more about this event.
