All positive at Sixfields despite minor frustration of Tranmere draw

Only two players missed training on Tuesday and spirits among Cobblers’ squad remain high despite the minor frustration felt at Saturday’s goalless draw with Tranmere Rovers.

Manager Jon Brady admitted there was a tinge of disappointment at failing to win for the third home game in a row, but a point extended their advantage over third in Sky Bet League Two and stretched their unbeaten run to seven league games.

Brady said: "What I will credit my players with is that they worked extremely hard and they were all very disappointed afterwards not to win the game because we wanted to put on a show.

"But League Two is tough and we put another point on the board and there is a bit of a gap between third and fourth so it's all positive for me and it’s all good.

"The squad is looking good and we had helluva competitive training session this morning (Tuesday). It was very sharp and everyone was in good spirits so we are really pleased with things at the moment.”

There was good news on Sam Sherring after he hobbled off against Tranmere. The defender appeared to injure his ankle but is expected to rejoin training later in the week. Tyler Magloire and Ali Koiki are edging their way back to full fitness.

“Sam just needed to come off at the weekend because at the time he felt a bit of pain,” Brady added. “He rested up yesterday and today and we hope to have him back in training later in the week.”
