Emergency services called to 'serious injury' crash near Northampton involving three vehicles

Northamptonshire Police are warning drivers to steer clear of roads near a serious accident involving one van and two cars.

The accident happened in Sandy Lane, Duston, and several fire engines plus two air ambulance helicopters attended.

Road closures are now in place in Port Road, Duston, as well as Sandy Lane. Police have also said New Sandy Lane is closed in both directions from the Harlestone Road roundabout to Weggs Farm Road. And a third closure is in place in Nobottle Road (at the Duston end, near the bypass).

All emergency services are at the scene.

AA Traffic News has said that there is a backlog of 'slow' and 'heavy traffic'.

The report said: 'Slow traffic and heavy traffic due to an accident, one van and two cars involved on Sandy Lane. Both ways at Port Road.

Further road closures are likely and people are advised to avoid the area where possible.
