Police dismantled a hidden cannabis factory inside a purpose-built camouflaged shack in an area of dense woodland off the A45 near Ecton yesterday (November 26).
The shack was concealed by surrounding vegetation and hooked up to overhead electricity pylons. Approximately 13 plants, with an estimated street value of £13,000, were discovered in the building.

“Usually cannabis factories are set up in town locations and houses, whereas here we are in a completely secluded area.”
Police, upon arrival, uncovered a length of cable running from the cannabis grow to a nearby electricity transformer, which provided power to the hidden building.
Three sides of the shack had been painted in a bid to disguise it from sight. Officers said that this would have been effective during the summer months as the trees would hide the shack from passers-by.
The plants have since been seized and destroyed.
