A Northampton church says it has been visited by 100 new people in the past four weeks asking for help from its drop-in food bank.

Even before the outbreak of Covid-19, the Shine Development CIC & New Covenant Church in Kettering Road have been supplying essential food and groceries to disadvantaged visitors, and even a doorstep delivery service.

But now, the church is more people come to their door asking for help - and now they too need help from the public to operate.

They are asking residents to donate anything they can to keep the food bank operating.

Manager Ayo Ogunbuyide said: "We're seeing a lot of people who have lost their jobs, and many people who have applied for Universal Credit but have to wait five weeks for the first payment.

"We want to share a message of hope. Hope and help are still available."
