While the county’s biggest theatres may have closed down their pantos for the season, for some amateur dramatics groups the fun is only just beginning.
And the Paulerspury Players are promising a fun-filled script for their forthcoming panto, Aladdin.
Penned by Steve Shaw, this will be the 23rd panto staged by the group; the first one having taken place in 1988.
A spokesman for the theatre group said: “The storyline for Aladdin may be familiar, but this lively script takes many twists and turns before our hero evades the bumbling palace police, Woo and Choo, defeats the wicked Abanaza and wins the hand of the princess.
“The genies of the lamp and the genie of the ring add to the fun, while the redoubtable Widow Twanky pursues, woos and weds the hapless emperor.”
This year’s show will be performed at Paulerspury Village Hall from Wednesday, February 13 until Saturday, February 16. Shows will begin at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Tickets cost £7 for adults or £5 for children and concessions. To book, call 0845 8334910 or 01327 811578.
