THE stars of Royal and Derngate’s Christmas pantomime will make a special appearance at the Grosvenor Centre on Monday.
Celebrity comedian Bobby Davro and Strictly Come Dancing professional Brian Fortuna will be visiting Northampton town centre’s shopping centre ahead of the first rehearsals for Aladdin, the Disney family favourite.
The two will appear in costume on a stage outside House of Fraser from 12.30pm where fans will be able to chat to them, alongside female cast members Charlotte Bull and Bonnie Lockheart.
The role of Wishee Washee will be played by Bobby Davro, who became a household favourite following his show Bobby Davro on The Box, and recently appeared on Dancing on Ice and Eastenders.
Brian Fortuna, who will make his panto debut as Aladdin, is best known for his skilled performances on two series of Strictly Come Dancing and on tour with the US show Dancing With The Stars.
Amanda Howson, spokeswoman for the Royal and Derngate, said: “We’re pleased to be able to introduce some of our Aladdin stars to the public as part of our launch next week.
“We’ve got a great cast lined up and Aladdin is going to be a spectacular show this Christmas.
“Along with Alice in Wonderland in the Royal, we’re looking ahead to a lively festive season.”
Visitors will have the chance to take photos of the stars, who will be talking about their upcoming performances.
Hi de Hi actor Jeffrey Holland will also perform in the show, playing Widow Twankey in his 40th season of pantomime.
Aladdin, staged by the world’s largest pantomime producer Qdos Entertainment, will be packed with the traditional panto ingredients including a slapstick comedy, a flying carpet, stunning sets and colourful costumes. The Chronicle & Echo is media sponsor of this year’s pantomime.
The show will run from Friday, December 9 to Sunday, January 8.
