Three bands from Northampton will be helping to honour the memory of Viola Beach at the Roadmender next week.

The four-piece indie act from Warrington in Cheshire and their manager were killed after the car they were travelling in plunged off a drawbridge in Stockholm, Sweden, in February.

They had been due to headline Stalkers Night at the Northampton venue on April 8 with support from local bands OhBoy! and Fox Chapel.

Paul Brown, who runs the Stalkers Night at the venue, said the event will go ahead despite the tragedy, with all the proceeds set to go to the families of those who died.

He said: “Many of you will be aware of the tragic passing of Viola Beach and their manager Craig Tarry.

“The band was due to play a Stalkers Night at The Roadmender. Having spoken to the bands involved, it has been decided that we will carry on with this event.

“Any profit made on this evening will go towards the families or a charity of the families’ choice.

“We would like to offer our condolences to the families and friends during this difficult time.”

Joining Oh Boy! and Fox Chapel will be An Army Of Lights.

OhBoy! released their latest single The Carrot And The Stick in January and also recently signed to Alcopop! Records.

The band recently filmed a short video about next week’s gig which is available on their Facebook page.

An Army Of Lights were among some of the bands from Northampton who recently travelled to Marburg in Germany to play at the MaNo-Musikfestival.

Fox Chapel released the single Imagery in January, which followed last year’s debut EP Frames.

All three play the Northampton venue on Friday, April 8. Tickets cost £5 in advance or £6 on the door.

All proceed will be donated to the families of Viola Beach.
