Live screening of dance show

Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet

Ballet enthusiasts will be in for a treat if they visit The Castle Theatre in Wellingborough next week.

Kenneth MacMillan’s version of romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet is to be broadcast live to the venue from the Royal Opera House.

The show, set to a score from Prokofiev can be seen on Tuesday September 22 starting at 7.15pm.

This Romeo and Juliet is rich in the swaggering colour of Verona street life and in sword fights and celebrations, but MacMillan’s focus is always on the complex emotions of the young lovers.

The show takes a specific focus on Juliet as she journeys through the delirious happiness of her first love to a shocked, adult perception of her fate.

Juliet is one of the most coveted of all ballerina roles, and as MacMillan’s ballet enters its 50th year it resonates as deeply with audiences today as when it was first seen half a century ago.

Tickets for this live screening are priced between £13.50 and £15 and they can be purchased in advance by calling the box office on 01933 270 007 or online at www.thecastle.org.uk
