A beer and hymns fundraising initiative comes to St Matthew’s Church on Saturday.
It runs from 5pm to 9pm at the church in the Kingsley area and has been organised by The Friends of St Matthew’s Music. It has supported a tradition of music at the church. In the last few years the Friends have helped to rerobe the choir in traditional Cassocks and Surplices, underwritten many concerts, tours and other events, and paid for two professional CD recordings.
The event will be supported by Phipps NBC who will be providing some of their finest ale for the occasion. The evening will consist of two sessions of hymn singing.
Entrance to the Church will be free of charge and the Beer will be priced per pint. Some food and soft drinks will be available.
A spokesman said: This occasion offers a wonderful opportunity for Northamptonians to come and celebrate two of the town’s treasures: Phipps NBC and St Matthew’s Church. It would be wonderful to see as wide a cross section of Northampton’s society as possible represented at this event and the Friends of St Matthew’s Music look forward to welcoming you.”
