Nightclubbers who used to strut their stuff at a night club are being invited to boogie on down to a 40th anniversary party for a town disco and club.

Circles Night Club in Northampton was opened in Regent Square in 1975.

Original owners Bob Kaufman, Pete Mace and Bruce Green are staging a reunion party to celebrate Circles, which was named after the shape of the building in which it was housed.

Many top Radio 1 DJs made personal appearances including Paul Gambaccini, Johnny Walker, ‘Diddy’ David Hamilton and David ‘Kid’ Jensen.

Visitors to the dance floor included Bonnie Tyler, the Northampton-born actress Judy Carne, England cricket legend Colin Milburn and Pakistan cricketer Mushtaq Mohammad.

After two years the club was revamped and renamed Sands Night Club.

The 40-year reunion takes place at Northamptonshire County Cricket Ground in Wantage Road on Saturday, November 28, with an appearance by Radio Northampton’s Bernie Keith.

Tickets in advance are £10 and are available from Bob Kaufman on 07855 928615 or Maria on 01502 581900.
