The Althorp Literary Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary with an array of top authors and celebrities visiting the Northamptonshire house.

Writers announced so far for the event – which will run from June 13 to 15 – include former Monty Python star and travel writer, Michael Palin, comedian Sandi Toksvig and former politician, Ann Widdecombe.

A spokesman for the Althorp estate said: “The authors participating this year comprise the most exciting line-up the festival has ever had the privilege of hosting.”

The first Althorp Literary Festival included guest speakers such as acclaimed novelist, Sebastian Faulks.

Since then, stars including broadcaster John Humphrys, Four Weddings and a Funeral writer, Richard Curtis, Bridget Jones author, Helen Fielding, historian Michael Wood, journalist Kate Adie, Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, comedian Ronnie Corbett and comedian Julian Clary, have all visited Althorp to speak at the event.

Other writers who will be at this year’s festival include former Liberal Democrat party leader, Paddy Ashdown, novelist Wilbur Smith, who has sold more than 120 million books worldwide, Alexander McCall Smith, who is the creator of the The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, and historical novelist Antonia Fraser.

Television presenter Andrew Marr has also been announced as one of the authors who will be at the festival, but following his stroke earlier this month, it is not yet known whether he will be at the event.
