A stage production of the popular musical Bugsy Malone will be brought to Kettering’s Lighthouse Theatre next week.

Rare Productions has brought together a cast of nearly 100 talented local young people to perform the story made famous through the 1976 film.

The story is set in Chicago during the 1920s and concerns the battle for criminal supremacy between two rival gangs led by Fat Sam and Dandy Dan.

Into the mix steps aspiring boxing promoter Bugsy Malone, who becomes involved with nightclub singer Blousey Brown and agrees to help Fat Sam turn the tables on his rival.

The musical contains well-known hits including Bugsy Malone, Fat Sam’s Grand Slam and Bad Guys.

Performances will take place at 7.30pm with an additional matinee on February 16 at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £13.50 or £11.50 for concessions. Call 01536 414141 or log on to www.lighthousetheatre.co.uk.

Rare’s next production at the Lighthouse Theatre will be the musical Oliver and open auditions for young people aged from eight to 21 will be held at the theatre between February 18 and March 3. Details available by logging on to www.rareproductions.co.uk.
