A touch of Christmas sparkle was brought to shoppers on Saturday as stars from The Deco theatre’s forthcoming panto made an appearance in Northampton town centre and at the Weston Favell Shopping Centre.
The cast, which includes TV presenter Alison Hammond, Eggheads panel member CJ de Mooi and Benidorm actor Danny Walters, were out and about in Northampton to launch this year’s panto, Jack And The Beanstalk.
Former Big Brother star Alison, who will be playing the character, Fairy Liquid, told the Chron: “This will be my seventh panto now. I think the secret to being in panto is taking it seriously as, with kids, this might be the first piece of theatre they have seen. It is about having fun and being able to react to the audience. You never know what to expect from panto, I have to be able to think on my feet.
“I have worked with CJ before, we did Beauty And The Beast last year and it was just fantastic. About four members of the cast were off sick but we still got through it and rescued it.”
The villain Fleshcreep will be played by TV brainbox CJ de Mooi, who also revealed that he will soon be returning to Eggheads following on from a two year break in which he has been working on his acting career.
CJ said: “This will be my sixth panto and my fifth time playing a villain and I’m going to be even nastier in this one.”
The cast also includes Northampton’s own Clive Fletcher, who will be playing the King.
The show will run from December 12 to 27. To find out more about tickets, visit www.thedeco.co.uk.
