A stage production of the popular musical Bugsy Malone is being brought to Kettering’s Lighthouse Theatre this week.

Rare Productions has brought together a cast of nearly 100 talented local young people to perform the story made famous through the 1976 film. The story is set in Chicago during the 1920s and concerns the battle for criminal supremacy between two rival gangs.

Into the mix steps aspiring boxing promoter Bugsy Malone, who becomes involved with nightclub singer Blousey Brown and agrees to help Fat Sam turn the tables on his rival. The musical contains well-known hits including Bugsy Malone, Fat Sam’s Grand Slam and Bad Guys.

Performances will be held from today until Saturday at 7.30pm each day and with an additional matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £13.50 or £11.50 for concessions. Call 01536 414141 or visit www.lighthousetheatre.co.uk.

Auditions for Rare’s production of Oliver will be held at the theatre for young people aged from eight to 21, from February 18 until March 3. Log on to www.rareproductions.co.uk.
