Simple Minds have been revealed as the second band who will headline this year’s Alive At Delapre music festival in Northampton this summer.
The Scottish rock band formed in 1977 and achieved commercial success in the early 1980s with a string of hit singles, including Don’t You (Forget About Me), Alive and Kicking and Waterfront.
Comprising of the members Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill, Mel Gaynor, Andy Gillespie and Ged Grimes, Simple Minds have toured all over the world, headlining major stadiums and inspiring many other top acts.
Simple Minds’ performance at Alive at Delapre in Northampton will coincide with the release of their latest album, Celebrate – The Greatest Hits, which marks their 35 years as one of Britain’s most successful bands.
The leader of Northampton Borough Council, David Mackintosh, said: “We are delighted Simple Minds will kick off this popular three day event in the beautiful surroundings of Delapre.
“Simple Minds dominated the charts in the 80s with many hit classics that fans old and new will be able to enjoy on Friday 18 July.
“We hope Delapre’s beautiful parkland surroundings will act as a perfect venue to celebrate 35 years of the band’s success.”
