THE Core Weekender will bring together a host of music and spoken word at the Corby theatre this weekend.

UK Slam Champion poet, John ‘Berko’ Berkavitch, will headline the Words live show on Saturday night, and Northampton funk-rock band, Cousin Avi, will headline the Music live show on Sunday. Both play from 7pm.

There will also be workshops from singers and songwriters, including Hannah Faulkner. Using industry standard music production software with Baby People’s Alex Blood, Berko and an invitation to young players of all instruments and all styles to form The New Sound Band, led by musical alchemist Joe Harrison.

The event has been organised by Young Promoters, who meet weekly with The Core’s Creative Director, Chris Sudworth to produce events for other young.

Mr Sudworth said: ‘The Core is proud of the Young Promoters and their commitment to helping us develop a programme that really delivers for 14 to 26 year olds.”

“We are always keen to expand the group, so if you are – or you know – a young adult who would be interested in joining Young Promoters, please get in touch.

Weekend passes cost £10 and give entry to all the events. Tickets for just the evening shows cost £5each.
