Millions of viewers will see a couple from Northampton take to the stage to sing live on Britain’s Got Talent this evening (Thursday).

Singers Sarah James and Kieran Sutcliffe, from East Hunsbury, will take to the stage after making it through to the semi finals of the popular ITV competition.

They will be battling it out against other contestants for a place in the final a week on Saturday.

Sarah and Kieran appeared in the final audition show on Sunday night and charmed the four judges with not only their performance of Love Changes Everything but also their relationship and “chemistry” together.

One of the judges, Amanda Holden, told them to get married as soon as possible as “you are perfect together”.

Speaking ahead of the show, Miss James said it was third time lucky for the pair as they had failed to get through to the live audition in front of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon on two previous occasions.

She said: “The first thing you are aware of is that the buzzers are so loud when you are waiting to go on.

“My heart was racing but we just wanted to do our best. We felt it went really well, although I always think that it could have gone even better.”

Miss James said she had been singing since she was eight years old and had appeared in the Chron 14 years ago when she won a competition to appear in a production of Fame in the West end.

The former Mereway Upper school pupil said she met Kieran four years ago when they were both working as singers at a hotel in Madeira.

She said: “I fell in love with Kieran after I first heard him sing and then met him
and found out he was such a lovely guy.

“Our first kiss was when we were performing a version of Mamma Mia.”

The couple are one of these acts from Northampton to have appeared on the show this year.

Last night dance group Cartel narrowly missed out on a place in the final after being voted off the show at the final hurdle.

Former winner of Northampton’s Got Talent, Bailey McConnell, aged 13, has also made it through to the semi finals. He is expected to appear on the show on Saturday night.
