WITH Christmas looming, the concert calendar is becoming busy.

On Tuesday at 7pm the Wellingborough Orpheus Choir will present a concert of Christmas music and carols.

Held at the United Reformed Church in Wellingborough, it will include two brass groups: Brass Buttons and the Brass Farthings Trio.

Tickets cost £8 or £6 for concessions, including refreshments, available on door or on 01933 665191.

On Saturday, Northampton Chamber Choir will hold a concert at The Church of St Peter & St Paul, Abington Park.

The concert will start at 7.30pm. The choir will sing excerpts from Messiah and music by Tippett, Gorecki and Wesley.

On Saturday, at 6pm, the Northampton East Salvation Army will hold a concert at Spinney Hill Theatre, including carols played by the Northampton East Salvation Army Band, Cedar Road Primary School Choir, the Gospel Choir from The New Testament Church of God and The Watling Singers. Proceeds will go to the Emergency and Paddington wards at NGH. Tickets cost £10 or £5 for under 14s. Ring 01604 406431.

Towester Choral Society will present its Christmas concert at Towcester Town Hall on Tuesday at 7.30pm, including carols and seasonal songs. Tickets cost £8 for adults or £4 for under 16s. Includes refreshments. Ring 01327 830593.

A concert by the Northampton Concert Orchestra will be held on Saturday at the Abington Avenue United Reformed Church, at 7.30pm. It will include Bryan Kelly’s compression of Dickens’ story about Scrooge.

The programme will also include Judith Bailey’s Wassail Dances and Delius’ Sleigh Ride. Tickets cost £6, available on door or from St Giles Music.
