The water supply problems affecting more then 250,000 Northamptonshire people will "probably take weeks" to resolve, Anglian Water have admitted.
Dan Baker, its chief spokesman, said the water company was working as hard as it could but wanted to take as few risks as possible that people would become ill from drinking its tap water.

He said: "Once the tests start to come out clear we the have to flush out the all the pipes, which is a massive task, and then resample to make sure everything is okay.

"It's a real inconvenience but it might take weeks to do."

Mr Baker also said Anglian Water had not yet found out how the cryptosporidium parasite got into the water supply.

Meanwhile Anglian Water urged the affected people in Northampton Daventry and the west of the county to continue boiling water rather than panic buy at the shops.

Its nice to see that the news is getting out now.. The first we heard was on the radio on the way to work.. by then too late... I have seen reports since that there were vans out informing residents of the water issue... but they obviously didn't visit Grange Park. Has anyone seen one around?

From "Headlands" we heard this morning, from BBC website. My mother in "Town Centre" heard from me and my sister in "Weedon" heard from the radio.
