AN EDUCATIONAL play aimed at improving numeracy skills among schoolchildren is presented in the county next week.
Johnny Spacehopper and His Vital Statistics, which comes to The Castle, Wellingborough, on Wednesday, is the latest ingenious production by Quantum Theatre.
On the Planet Calculus, Johnny yearns to be be a Supreme Guardian of the Friendly Federation, but his lack of mathematical know-ledge is holding him back.
But when the book of know-ledge containing vital data on every planet in the universe is stolen, he seizes his chance to to a courageous but reckless act to try to bring it back.
The play, which includes lots of audience participation, is based on the mathematics curriculum for primary schools and explores number patterns, mental calculations, deduction and using data in a table.
Teachers' notes are provided for any visiting schools. Performances begin at 10am and 1.30pm and all tickets are £6 (teachers free) on 01933 270007.
