The Pro40 debate continues to rage at the NCG.
Yours truly has been asked to do a petition to win it back in 2010.

Last month I emailed my idea to the ECB to turn league one of the Pro40 into Pro50, but keep league two as Pro40, then just dump the Friends & Provident and so still play on Sunda
ys.

In that way promotion to the top league to play 50-over cricket is giving the international one-day format more importance. As the better players filter towards the top leagues through the two-tier wage structure it stands to reason the best English qualified one-day players will be playing the Pro50.

Let's face it, it's not as if England care too much about one-day internationals. The ECB emailed back and asked if I could open the batting in the Test??

It seems to me it was mostly the players and the ex-players in the media who had it in for the Pro40, but if you are the entertainers then surely you should play the formats we want?

I would say the members have no issue with playing more of this brainless Twenty20 as long as they didn't mess with the traditional Sunday at the cricket.

Punters are going to spend the same amount of money on Twenty20 in 2010 but have a greater choice of games to spread their cash, so profits could even drop.
