Steve Riches: Will Sunderland heroics boost Sixfields crowd?
Published Date:

Brighton are our visitors on Saturday to Sixfields, and I hope that our heroics at Sunderland will persuade the doubting supporters to come along and help kick-start us into a decent run in the league.
The players have a few knocks and battered hopes after the cup-tie, but I'm told there are no fresh injuries.
We're good enough for an eventual play-off place, but I'm still being laughed at!
The club tell me they have just now received confirmation from Barclaycard that there have indeed been problems for many of you who signed up for a credit card to get interest free payments on your season ticket.
They assure you that the problems have been solved, so we'll wait to see if it is true!
Tony Hardy was told the other week that the company had " a system error which meant your season tickets were not correctly applied to your Barclaycard football account...it is not our intention to cause inconvenience".
This pleased him until he got his latest statement containing yet another incorrect entry of interest! Please let me know if, from today, you still get any problems.
Supporters quiz
If you intend to be part of the supporters' quiz (supper and bar) on the evening of Monday October 3, please get your tickets (£7) this Saturday from the supporters' kiosk outside west stand, or at other times from the box office.
Players will be in attendance and there are great prizes.
Shooting ourselves in foot over PA system
Mary Tuckey was not happy that we "shot ourselves in the foot" by playing "Daydream Believer" over the PA system at the Peterborough game; it encouraged the singing of the vulgar words (which, incidentally, were conducted in the stand with gusto by Barry Fry).
The serious point made is whether parents with young children really want this – your thoughts, please.
No cheer for cheerleaders
Andrew Nelson wasn't happy that our cheerleaders were not wearing Cobblers' kit and were not introduced, leaving the crowd unaware of what was going on.
He felt the girls were treated badly, and also that they should have been used at half-time.
The club reply is that they were announced, but that the old PA system isn't up to it and will only be replaced when the west stand is re-developed.
There is a move to fundraise to get them club kit, and they were offered a half-time slot but had another booking, although there was other entertainment.
Andrew replies that the announcer made no effort to commentate or to thank the girls or elicit any applause. Personally, I think we are a bit lax on the PA, most other clubs do better.
