Thornton rescues point for Cobblers
KEVIN THORNTON'S penalty salvage a point for the Cobblers against Wycombe at a rain-soaked Sixfields.
Andy Sandell's tracer bullet of a free-kick had seen Town head in behind at half-time.
The Wycombe left-back fired in from the D with just five minutes of the first half remaining.
Town had started brightly but were rocked by a 20th-minute injury to Tadhg Purcell, the striker leaving the field on a stretcher.
And it was Wycombe who seized the initiative through Sandell to take a 1-0 advantage into the break.
But the home side responded well after the break, being awarded a penalty when Ben Strevens caught Andy Holt from behind in the box.
Thornton made no mistake from 12 yards to rescue a point but the wait for a first league win goes on.
