Steve Riches: Mark's new Cobblers book is cracking read

Mark Kennedy's new book full of memories of following the Cobblers is a cracking read, it sold well at the quiz, and it'll be on offer at the Trust kiosk tomorrow night. Also Mark himself will be walking round to persuade you to part with your £7.95.

At a time when non-stop Premiership hype seems to dominate interest in football, this well-produced book is a perfect example of the experiences of true football fans for whom their club is the only one that counts.

There are some wonderful old pictures too, which will tickle your nostalgia buds.

With Christmas coming at us, this will be a super stocking-filler for those who are un-moved by Manchester United, yet emotionally roller-coastered by the Cobblers.

We may hope that more Northamptonians will share our passion for the club, but this hope was somewhat knocked back when my wife entered the Salvation Army charity shop in Gold Street – a junior-size Cobblers shirt that had languished there since June was marked down from 2.50 to just 1.

What's going on here?

No takers even in home territory? Obviously, we bought it for our nine-year-old, so ya-boo shucks to all who passed it by!
