Slideshow special: Rugby & Northampton dominate Abington Park races
Rugby & Northampton AC dominated the Northants Cross Country Championships at Abington Park.
The club won all eight team titles on offer along with six individual victories and had a total of 81 athletes taking part.
This achievement was completed in the 70th running of the senior men's race, in which the squad maintained their unbeaten record on home soil with seven wins out of seven and 16th title overall in the past 25 years.
Claiming his first senior title was Matt Almond, who romped home to victory for R&N by a massive margin of 1min 21secs when he covered the 10k course in an impressive 33mins 3secs.
Nigel Marley battled hard for a medal, but missed out by just two seconds in fourth place with a time of 34mins 32secs and Liam Ratcliffe chased him home by snatching fifth position in 34mins 42secs.
There was a good solid run from Stuart Nelson, who after recent injury problems, recorded a time of 35mins 47secs for ninth spot and Chris Lamb made the team for the first time when he came 15th in 37mins 15secs.
Brendan Moen was the first veteran over 40 for the club and he completed the scoring six by making the team for the eighth time in the last 12 years. He finished in 20th place with 37mins 57secs.
The under 15 section had a total clean sweep of the medals.
Jess Dimmock raced to a clear victory in the girls race with a time of 12.21 and was supported by silver and bronze medal winners Charlotte Inwood (12.57) and Gabriella Moriarty (12.59). The B team also won silver medals when Eleanor Barnes finished fifth in 13.36, Shannan Rugg sixth (13.49) and Megan Love seventh in 14mins 16secs.
Guy Marshman had a similar margin of victory in the corresponding boys race when he recorded 15 mins 44 secs to win by 32 seconds.
Conor Hills took the silver in 16mins 16secs with Matthew Finnigan winning bronze (16.57). The total domination of this age group was complete when the B team also won silver, which saw Jacob Allen finish in fourth place with 17mins 2secs followed by Robert Male (5th in 17.04) and Joe Lantsbery (7th in 17.28).
The under-17 men's race saw Rory Grant destroy the field to win by 39 seconds in 17mins 57secs.
Luke Robinson took the bronze medal with a time of 19mins 6secs and completing the winning team was George Cardwell in fourth spot (19.48).
The under-13 girls saw a total of 14 athletes from R&N taking part and heading the whole field to take the title was Isobel Hughes by a margin of 12 seconds when she recorded 10mins 32secs.
Helping her to the team victory was Genevieve Roberts in fourth place with 11mins 9secs and Alison Inwood sixth (11.44).
Not to be outdone, R&N's B team won the bronze medals with Maddie Spellman leading them home in seventh spot (11.49) and Emily Byrd (11.51) and Phinolla Hindle (11.58) finishing eighth and ninth respectively.
James Smith won the silver medal in the under-13 boys race with a time of 9mins 42secs and he was chased home by Luke Greer who took bronze in 9mins 45secs and Daniel White in fourth with 10mins 1sec.
The team silver medal also went to R&N with Jack Murphy fifth (10.09), Adam Smith sixth (10.12) and Carrick Baldwin seventh (10.26).
The senior ladies for R&N were led home by Alison Cooper who covered the 5k course in 20 mins 55 secs to win the silver medal.
Ruth Love-Smith was visiting from New Zealand and she was rewarded with a bronze medal when she recorded 21 mins 2 secs and completing the victorious ladies team was England veteran international Angela Copson, who finished seventh in 21mins 37secs.
In the first female race of the day, Kellie Leonard won the silver medal in the under-17 ladies event with a time of 18mins 10secs and the winning team was completed by Rachael Barber in fifth (18.43) and Elle Supple in sixth (18.57).
They had good back-up by the B team who finished second when Briony Banks clinched seventh spot in 19.03, the ever-reliable Emma McGowan (19.56) was eighth and Chelsea Thompson ninth with 20mins 52secs.
In the non-championship under-11 girls race, Phoebe Ellis won with a time of 7mins 56secs and Charlotte Murray came third in 8mins 9secs. Haydn Arnall finished fifth in the under-11 boys event with 7mins 32secs.
R&N spokeswoman Tricia Garner said: "Well done to all of the athletes for a clean sweep of trophies. It was great to have the Mayor Brian Markham attend. Hopefully it can raise the profile of athletics and the athletes will feel their sport is just as important as the rest."
