Shane Geraghty 'desperate' to land silverware
Maverick fly-half Shane Geraghty says Saints are 'desperate' to win the LV= Cup and bag the first part of an unprecedented treble.
Geraghty helped Saints beat Saracens 31-20 on Sunday to seal the club's fifth appearance in the domestic cup final, which they have yet to win.
Northampton take on Gloucester in a repeat of Saints' last cup final, seven years ago when they lost 40-22 against the Cherry and Whites when it was called the Powergen Cup.
In 2003 the cup final was played in front of 75,000 at Twickenham, whereas this Sunday a maximum of 12,000 will watch the clash at Sixways.
Geraghty doesn't care about the venue though, as he looks to win the first piece of silverware of his career.
The summer signing from London Irish said: "We desperately want to win the LV= Cup, getting silverware for the club is fantastic for the fans and the players. We will be going out on Sunday giving it our all to win this cup."
Saints beat Gloucester 27-14 at Kingsholm earlier in the season, but Bryan Redpath's side are a much different proposition now, having lost just two of their last 10 games.
Geraghty said: "It will be a massive test for us, it all is down to which team turns up on the day.
"They maybe didn't start the season too well, but they have come into some good form now. The ground is drying up and they are a very dangerous team as they showed against Cardiff in the semi-final.
"They have people like James Simpson-Daniel and Lesley Vainikolo coming into some good form, mixed in with a good pack, so it is going to be massive game for us that we will have to get up for."
