Sampson's pride at big revival
Ian Sampson admits he is delighted to have manufactured a position for the Cobblers where their destiny is almost entirely in their own hands.
A month ago Northampton were in touching distance of the Coca-Cola League Two play-offs but all their rivals for the top seven had games in hand.
At one stage, due to FA Cup commitments, Notts County had played five games less than Sampson's side, while Accrington Stanley were four games back.
Just about all the clubs around Town are up to date with their fixtures now, and only Accrington, of those who do have games in hand, can overtake them if they pick up victories. It is a situation, the manager says, will lead to a very interesting finale to the season.
"We've put ourselves into a position where if we keep getting results we'll stay in the play-offs," he said.
"The other teams that have the games in hand are giving themselves too much to do.
"It's probably only Notts County who can get too far away from us with the games they've got to play. So it's in our hands now and it's down to us to keep winning games and stay in there.
"We've got teams to play who are around us in the league and the last month of the season will be very interesting and one we look forward to."
