SAINTS: 'We must wipe out errors'
Director of rugby Jim Mallinder says Saints need to act quickly to wipe out the 'individual errors' that are creeping into their game.
Saints chalked up two wins out of two against Heineken Cup pool one Treviso, but both were beset by error-ridden first halves.
Northampton have won seven games in a row as they prepare for their return to Guinness Premiership action at Worcester on Boxing Day and Mallinder is anxious to rid his side of any more mistakes.
"We made too many individual errors at Treviso," said Mallinder. "They are creeping into our game and we need to get them out to improve.
"Treviso kept coming back after we scored a try and that was due a lot to our individual mistakes. When you drop a couple of high balls or you try to run back out of your own half when you need to play the kicking game yourselves, that puts you under pressure."
Mallinder's men return to league action this weekend on the back of seven wins in a row and another victory at Sixways would set them up nicely for the mouth-watering home clash against London Irish.
Saints will look at the video of the Treviso game to work out how to cut down on mistakes that could prove costly against Worcester.
"You will always get individual errors," said Mallinder. "It is just trying to cut them down and not produce as many.
"Treviso is a difficult place to go to and with the conditions as they were as well, but we need to get that accuracy in our game.
"We made some bad decisions, we didn't do the right things at the right times and we will look at the video this week and probably find there are quite a number of things we can do better."
Saints sit third in the Guinness Premiership and will want to keep their winning run going over the important Christmas period as they chase a play-off place.
And Mallinder's men are just one point behind second-placed London Irish, who take on unbeaten leaders Saracens at the Madjeski Stadium on Sunday.
