Saints announce five pre-season friendlies
Northampton Saints have lined up a series of pre-season friendlies for next month.
Saints will play five matches as well as sending a squad to the Middlesex Sevens.
While three of the five matches will be at Franklin's Gardens, Saints head to France to open their pre-season account. Bordeaux will be the opponents for a match in Capbreton on Thursday, August 13.
The Middlesex Sevens follows two days later, and Saints then face three Championship outfits at the Gardens as well as a challenging trip to a Heineken Cup semi-finalist.
Bedford Blues make the short journey up the A428 on Friday, August 21, with Rotherham Titans the visitors the following day.
On Friday, August 28 a Saints XV will travel to the new Cardiff City stadium to face the Blues in a re-match of last season's EDF Energy Cup semi-final.
The pre-season wraps up at the Gardens with the visit of Nottingham on Saturday, August 29.
"We want to give as many players as possible game time before the Guinness Premiership begins," said Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder. "There are several new players to integrate into the squad and the best way for them to do that is by playing rugby."
All three of the friendlies at Franklin's Gardens are included in the 2009-10 season ticket, as well as all home Guinness Premiership and Heineken Cup group matches, including the visits of Munster and Perpignan.
Prices start at 260 for adults, 155 for concessions and 145 for juniors, with great deals available for families.
