Safety is priority for high-flying Rothwell
Rothwell Town entertain struggling Barton Rovers tomorrow – hot on the heels of a confidence–boosting midweek win against Soham Town Rangers.
The 4-2 victory made Bones the highest scoring team in the division and left manager Rob Dunion in buoyant mood at the prospect of facing a Rovers team with one of the leakiest defences this season.
Dunion said: "Of course we'll be expecting to take all three points but the key is focus and confidence.
"It's a strange league and these are the kinds of games you're expected to win, but can easily slip up on."
The Bones are sitting pretty in the Zamaretto League Division One with 25 points from seven wins and four draws putting them fourth.
But with 13 games played already this season, Dunion is eying promotion – and the relegation trapdoor – with equal concern.
He said: "Yes, we're aiming for promotion and if we put together a run of five games we'll be well in contention.
"However, my first goal is to reach 40 points and get league safety.
"Last season we avoided relegation by a single point and I don't want to be in that position again.
"But overall I believe the key to us this season will be confidence.
"We are more than capable of beating anyone from this division if we believe in ourselves and play as I know we can."
In team news, keeper Lee Crockett returns from injury after a four-week layoff, meaning Tom Cross returns to Corby.
Jason Turner also goes back in to the squad after returning from a spell at Desborough Town.
Rothwell from: Crockett, Sturgess, White, Julian, Flannigan, Darby, Mills, Maddox, Glass, Hallows, Stevenson, Bryne, Locklin, Turner, Maude, Underwood.
