Breaking News: Wasps leave England scrum-half Simpson on the bench
Saints latest news
ENGLAND squad member Joe Simpson will be on the bench for Wasps in the LV= Cup clash with Saints.
Simpson is part of the Six Nations squad but was sent back to his club with Ben Youngs and Saints’ Lee Dickson the two scrum-halves for England against Scotland.
But Wasps coach Dai Young has decided to stick with Charlie Davies at scrum-half with Simpson on the bench alongside fly-half Nicky Robinson who returns from injury.
Having completed their first full week of training with the squad, Russians Victor Gresev and Vladislav Korshunov have been named in Wasps’ match day 23.
Gresev will start at No. 8 while Korshunov is set to feature from the bench.
Will Robinson will make his first start for Wasps this weekend, after the 19-year-old performed well from the bench last weekend in his first appearance at Adams Park.
There are eight changes to the team that played Exeter Chiefs in last weekend’s LV=Cup game at Adams Park.
In the backs, Hugo Southwell and Richard Haughton start, while in the forwards, Tim Payne, Nathan Morris and Ben Broster come into the side to make up a new-look front row, with Matt Everard slotting into the back row.
Charlie Davies will once again captain the side.
