Sunday’s National Hunt meeting at Towcester is the latest fixture to be beaten by the cold snap.

Clerk of the course Robert Bellamy had an easy call to make with the course frozen solid and temperatures not due to rise above freezing until the middle of next week.

“It was an easy decision to make really,” said Bellamy.

“There’s no let up in the forecast and snow is due to arrive on Friday and Saturday.

“Temperatures are not due to rise above freezing until the middle of next week, and the only good thing is that we can let people know in good time.”
