Points matter most for Bones manager
Rob Dunion doesn't mind if Rothwell Town play poorly for the rest of the season as long they keep picking up the points.
The Bones ended their seven-match losing streak in the Zamaretto League in midweek with a 2-0 success at Beaconsfield.
And as they prepare for another away day at Bury Town tomorrow, Dunion is looking ahead with confidence.
"I thought the lads put in a real professional display in the week and we looked like a good solid team," said Dunion.
"To be honest, I've been saying for a while now that that win was always just around the corner.
"It was simply a matter of when it would come because I knew we were playing well enough to get it."
The midweek result left the Bones still mid-table in Division One Midlands but Dunion is looking up rather than down.
"We have games in hand on the sides above us and with a good run, we can still get up amongst the leading sides," he said.
"It's good that we are in a solid position. We're not looking over our shoulders or anything like that and we can instead concentrate on
improving our position.
"To do that, however, we need to be picking up points regularly and I don't really mind how we do that.
"Of course we want to play good football and win games but I'd just as happily take a poor performance if it meant three points at the end of it."
Tomorrow's opponents Bury lie third in the table and promise to be a stern test for the Bones.
The sides have already met twice this term with the league game ending in a goalless draw while Bury won 1-0 in the FA Cup.
But that is still better than the aggregate 15 the Bones conceded to the Suffolk side last year, a measure of their improvement in Dunion's eyes.
"It will be a hard test for us but I'm looking forward to it," he said.
"Bury are the kind of side who can score four or five on demand but we have experienced players who can handle this sort of game."
