Park Avenue moved back to the top of the Premier Division table with a 9-1 win over Kingsley B, repeating the score in their first encounter of the season.

Paul Wood and Jamie Chamberlain notched hat-tricks, Gerald Henson a brace and Wood combined with Henson to take the final doubles.

For Kingsley, Andy Harrison prevented the complete whitewash with his win against Henson but must count himself unlucky to lose his other two matches in the fifth sets, against Wood by 6-11 and Chamberlain by 10-12.

Park Avenue were aided in recovering the leadership by DCA Flyers’ heavy defeat by a Malcolm Arnold A side containing top county player Andy Trott.

Trott won his three comfortably and obviously inspired his team-mates Aaron Ark and Aiden Smith as they both played really well.

Ark gained a hat-trick and Smith a brace.

Trott and Ark then teamed up to win the doubles, giving their side a 9-1 victory.

For the Flyers Paul Gatiss prevented the whitewash with his five-set win over Smith, but Richard Bashford for the first time in recent years was unlucky to lose all three.

Steve Silk, another highly ranked county player, was included in Turvey’s side for their match with University and he duly delivered with a straight sets hat trickasdf.

Dave Beddall gained a brace and Alan Shouler won one of his three singles’ events for Turvey, but the University trio of Tim Pollard, Grant Timms and Peter Ratcliffe responded with one win.

Pollard and Timms just defeated Shouler and Beddall 11-9 in the fifth in the final doubles set to make the match score 6-4 the Turvey.

Mention here must be made of Ratcliffe’s marathon performance against Beddall, which he won by 11-8 4-11 11-8 8-11 12-10.
