ON THE RUN - action from Titans Under-15s' clash with City Of Birmingham

Northamptonshire Titans Women booked their place in the final of the National Trophy with a 63-57 defeat of Birmingham Mets.

The Mets were the last team to beat the Titans but things were turned around in the last-four clash.

The Mets led 33-32 at the halfway point but a strong second-half performance ensured the Titans took the spoils.

A very happy coach Barry Powell said: “Myself, the coaching staff and all our players have worked extremely hard for this and when you see all the hours of training pay off, then that is very satisfying.

“We showed good team awareness today, but most of all displayed some really good levels of ball at both ends of the floor.”

City of Birmingham 56 Northants Titans 54

The Titans under-15 boys narrowly lost for the second time in as many games as they went down to City of Birmingham in the EBL Midlands Conference.

The visitors trailled 26-22 at half-time but had levelled the scored with four minutes left on the clock before the hosts squeezed home.

A number of missed chances and only 19 successful free-throws out of 40 proved costly for the Titans.

James Andrews top-scored with 16 points and Mussi Tijani contributed 14.

Northants Titans 50 Milton Keynes Lions 65

In the EBL Midlands South Conference, the Titans under-13 boys were beaten 65-50 by Milton Keynes Lions.

Having been behind by two after the opening quarter, the Titans fought back to lead 27-24 at halfway.

But a 16-10 third period in the Lions’ favour turned the game in their favour.

Coach Barry Powell said: “This Titans team have shown such improvement in such a small space of time, with the effort they are all putting in we are becoming more competitive in every game.

“Our captain Joe McGrady led by example today and produced his best ball of the season so far.”

Wolverhampton Slam 57 Northants Titans 65

Titans Under-14 boys got the better of Wolverhampton Slam by a 65-57 scoreline in their Midlands Conference encounter.

A 23-9 first quarter lead became 47-21 at half-time and although the second half saw the scoring slow down, the visitors had done enough to secure the spoils.

Keenan Salmon led the Titans’ scorers with a 14-point haul.
