IN THE FRAME - Chris Hackett's two goals in Janaury have helped put him on the shortlist for league two player of the month

 

Northamtpon Town winger Chris Hackett has been nominated for the npower League Two player of the month award for January.

But manager Aidy Boothroyd has not been shortlisted for the managerial gong despite winning more games than the three bosses nominated.

Martin Allen (Gillingham) and John Ward (Bristol Rovers) both led their clubs to three wins in January, while the third candidate, AFC Wimbledon’s Neil Ardley, oversaw two victories. Under Boothroyd, Northampton won four matches.

Hackett is also up against representatives from Bristol Rovers and Wimbledon, with Gas captain Tom Parkes and Dons’ on-loan West Ham striker Paul McCallum nominated.

The Cobblers winger scored twice in January, including a vital penalty in the away win at Aldershot Town that was his fifth goal of the campaign.
