Jim Mallinder says he will make more tweaks to Saints' squad and playing style as they seek to get back in the top four next season.

Mallinder’s men finished the 2015/16 campaign with a win at Gloucester last weekend, securing fifth place in the Aviva Premiership.

They finished five points behind fourth-placed Leicester Tigers, failing to make the play-offs for the first time since 2009.

The likes of Kahn Fotuali’i and Victor Matfield will be leaving the club this summer, with South African scrum-half Nic Groom and France No.8 Louis Picamoles coming in.

And Mallinder says there will be more recruitment, with a lock seemingly top of the list of targets.

“We’ve got to regroup and freshen things up a bit,” said the director of rugby. “We’ve already announced a couple of new signings and we’ll get a couple more on top of that.

“We probably need to do things a little bit differently and hopefully progress our game.

“We want to be challenging for silverware every single year and that’s the pressure we put on ourselves.”
