League One Review: Oldham move top after Cheltenham win
Lee Hughes struck a hat-trick against Cheltenham to help Oldham move top of Coca-Cola League One with three wins from three games.
The Latics were always in control against the visitors and Hughes showed his old goalscoring instincts with goals in the 45th, 50th and 62nd minutes before Danny Whitaker added a late fourth.
The result was enough to take Oldham top with Carlisle - who had Scott Dobie sent off late in the game - drawing 0-0 at Leyton Orient.
Leicester moved second as Matt Fryatt scored twice in a 3-1 win over Tranmere at the Walkers Stadium.
Steve Howard (33) put the Foxes ahead before Fryatt's first and after Chris Shuker pulled one back in the 80th minute, the former Walsall striker made it 3-1 in added time.
Walsall suffered their first loss of the season as they came away from Crewe's Gresty Road with a 2-1 defeat.
The Alex did the damage in the first period through Anthony Elding (21) and Joel Grant (45) and though Stephen Hughes pulled one back shortly before the hour, Crewe held on for the win.
MK Dons jumped into the top five with an emphatic 3-1 win at Huddersfield.
Roberto Di Matteo's side - once again without Keith Andrews - were cruising 3-0 after goals by Jude Stirling (16), Peter Leven (38) and Sam Baldock (64) before Gary Roberts' late consolation.
Leeds drew 1-1 at Yeovil in a tight encounter.
Luciano Becchio had given Gary McAllister's side the lead less than 30 seconds into the match but the Glovers levelled when Lloyd Owusu scored on the rebound having missed a penalty.
Bristol Rovers hammered hapless Hereford 6-1 at the Memorial Stadium.
Darryl Duffy and Rickie Lambert scored two apiece with Jeff Hughes and Chris Lines also scoring, while Stephen Guinan scored a late consolation.
Tommy Rowe's injury-time strike earned unbeaten Stockport their first win of the season at Hartlepool.
After a tight encounter, Anthony Pilkington found Rowe and the forward was on hand to score in the fourth minute of added time.
Paul Hayes' first-half penalty helped Scunthorpe beat Peterborough 1-0 at Glanford Park while Colchester beat Swindon 3-1 away from home.
Johnnie Jackson, Scott Vernon and Akanni-Sunday Wasiu scored the goals for Geraint Williams' side in his 100th game in charge.
Northampton and Millwall cancelled each other out with a goalless draw at Sixfields.
