Law and Order keep on straight and narrow at Brampton Heath
Mark Law, Andy White, Ian Lawrence and Duncan Faye kept on the straight and narrow to win the Texas Scramble on countback at Brampton Heath after shooting a net 61.
The team, which was called Law and Order, stole the top prize from the Texas Golf Course Massacre quartet of Dan Wood, Vince Wood, Paul Thurlow and Nick Herridge.
Sue Mead, Steve Crane, Carolyn Bentley and Nona Pollard were third on net 61.7, while Mike Austin and Malcolm Barron completed a unique double on the short holes.
Austin bagged the nearest the pin prizes on the fifth and seventh holes, before Barron matched that feat on the inward half by picking up the awards on the 12th and 16th holes.
Jez Walding and men's captain Brian Carter did just enough to secure first place in the Saturday Turkey Trot competition at Kingsthorpe.
After bagging 44 points, Walding and Carter finished one point ahead of five pairings, headed by Kev Baptist and Chris Hayward on countback.
Alan Woods and Phil Horne were third, Lloyd Butcher and Paul Gray grabbed fourth spot, Jake Croxford and Martin Phelan picked up fifth prize, while Lee Hitchcock and Steve Jackson had to settle for sixth.
It was a different story in the Sunday Turkey Trot as Mark Fowkes and John Armson ran out convincing four-point winners thanks to a round of 46 points.
Wes Houghton and Mark Colston picked up the runners-up prize on countback from Gary Hardy and Mark Bazeley, with Martin Stockwell and David Stockwell two points further back in fourth.
The Stockwells maintained their form into the Christmas Cup five days later as the father-and-son pairing bagged a winning tally of 39 points.
Leroy Herbert and Steve McDonald had to settle for second place with 38 points - three more than the next two pairs.
Mike James held off a large field to win the Christmas competition at Hellidon Lakes, courtesy of a score of 42 points.
Daniel Start was one point behind in second spot, Lloyd Rawlins (39) was third, while Keith Meadham (38) beat a couple of players to fourth prize.
Duncan Childs required countback to clinch the December medal after finishing level with Matt Harris on net 70.
Malcolm Gregory was third by one from in-form Chris Marriott, Dave Upton and Paul Washbrook.
The battle to win the Christmas Eve competition at Farthingtone turned into a close contest between Paul Tite and Richard Salter.
With both players shooting an excellent score of 44 points, countback was required to decide the champion. Tite got the verdict.
Carl Williams took the honours in the third round of Northampton GC's winter series stableford on countback from Ian Fulton after both players carded 41 points.
Third spot went to Jim Fyles (40), while Chris Flaherty and John Smith (both 38) had good rounds.
