Striker Luke Norris has left the Cobblers and returned to parent club Brentford.
The frontman’s loan was due to expire following Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two trip to Newport County.
But a thigh injury picked up in the 0-0 draw at Portsmouth last weekend has led to him returning to Griffin Park a few days early.
“He’s a nice kid and we’ll see what happens,” said Cobblers caretaker boss Andy King, who yesterday signed forwards Antonio German and Hallam Hope on loan from Gillingham and Everton respectively.
“If I get the job I may go back in for him or I might recommend him to someone else.
“We’ve moved on now.
“We’ve got two new strikers in and we’ll be working with them.”
Norris made nine starts and three substitute appearances while at Sixfields, scoring five goals.
He returns to Brentford as he Cobblers’ leading scorer this season.
The news on Norris follows on from the departures of Izale McLeod, who has returned to MK Dons, and defender Matt Heath who has left the club at the end of his short-term contract.
