George trots to top spot in turkey
George Sharp had the best score (43 points) and the biggest margin of victory (two shots) in a division as he clinched the top section of Northampton Golf Club's Turkey Trot competition.
Second place in Division One went to Tony Worthington, with Brian Page two strokes further adrift in third spot.
Bob Knight had a good day as he carded 42 points to win the second category by one from Ian Hedges, with Ian Brooks heading a group of five players on 40.
The third section went to Neil Meadows (42) from runner-up Gary Keyes (41) and third-placed Bernard Harrison (40).
Maggie Childs grabbed the spoils in the November ladies' stableford as she carded a Division One-winning score of 32 points over 15 holes. Lorraine Gilder (30) and Carol Osborne (28) were second and third.
Although scoring wasn't as good in the other two divisions, there was plenty of competition for the main prizes.
That was particularly the case in the second section as Elizabeth Mulliner, Angela Meadows and Roberta Gee carded the equal best score of 24 points. Mulliner won on countback.
The same points tally secured first place in Division Three as Janice Fulton held off the challenge of Jo Plank.
Round two of the Tigers Winter Series at Hellidon Lakes went to Thomas Haydon with a magnificent score of 39 points.
Peter Davies (36) was second on countback from Sid Gooden, with Mike Harris a further two behind in fourth position.
One point was the margin of victory for Chris Marriott in the third round of the Series.
Marriott's score of 37 points edged out David Wallis, with Geoff Jennings (34) and John Pike (33) in third and fourth places respectively.
DELAPRE club members will need to wait until next month for a chance to test their competitive skills after bad weather prevented any play in the latest of their two winter stablefords.
