Frustration for Dunion as Bones blank again
Rothwell Town's wait for a win in 2010 goes on after they lost 2-0 at Burnham in Zamaretto League Division One Midlands last night.
Two goals either side of half-time proved the Bones' undoing and boss Rob Dunion was left to rue on another night of frustration.
"We created plenty of but we never looked like scoring which is the frustrating thing," he said,
"It's all very well having plenty of the ball but the fact is we didn't
make anything of it and that's a worry.
"I cannot fault the performance because we worked very hard and you don't create as we did without playing well.
"But we have to start turning these good performances into results if we are going to challenge in this league.
"At the start of the season, I felt we had the players in the squad that would enable us to score in every game so to draw a blank is
frustrating."
Burnham took the lead with a contentious penalty in first-half injury-time from Ben Moore.
The home side then doubled their advantage three minutes after half-time through Ryan Bird's tap-in.
"I think they bullied the official a bit into giving the penalty, they put him under a lot of pressure and that swayed his decision," said Dunion.
"I thought it was debatable at best but they shouted loudly for it and they got it. Then we conceded again straight after the restart and we had it all to do after that.
"We still played well and still kept making chances but we just couldn't put the ball in the net again.
Martin Flannigan had Rothwell's best effort on the night with a shot that was tipped over on the half-hour.
"I thought Flannigan was excellent on the night and goalkeeper Lee Crockett played well too," said Dunion.
