Rothwell boss says players must learn

Rothwell Town boss Rob Dunion will be hoping it's acts on the pitch rather than acts of God that make the difference for his side at home to Chesham United tomorrow.

The Bones got away with it in midweek when their BGB Southern League Division One Midlands clash with Romulus was abandoned at half-time due to heavy rain.

The visitors had been deservedly leading 1-0 at the time the game was called off and Dunion was quick to admit his side would have been well beaten had the match continued.

And he stressed that his players needed to learn from their poor display and build on the stroke of good fortune that came their way.

"We're in a position where we don't have to be looking over our shoulders if we keep picking up the results," said Dunion.

"But at the same time, the players need to be aware that they are in a relegation battle.

"We need to start showing more resilience and ensuring we never turn in another performance like that first half in the week."

Thanks to the rain, the Bones have still only lost once in their last five home games.

But they will need to be at their best if they are to take anything from a Chesham side with their eyes firmly on the play-

offs.

Currently seventh, the Generals are 11 points off the post-season slots – but with up to four games in hand on most of the sides above them.

They also come into the game on the back of four straight wins, including putting eight past Barton Rovers.

Furthermore, they have already won in this part of Northamptonshire this season having knocked Premier Division Corby Town out of the FA Trophy.

Spearheading their success is striker Danny Burnell who already has 24 goals this season.

The Bones are boosted by the return of experienced pair Kevin Byrne and Bobby White but Adam Bridgeford has left the club to join UCL side Wellingborough Town.

Rothwell from: Allen, Maddox, Underwood, White, Hackett, F Koriya, Medine, Boyle-Chong, Flannigan, Byrne, Glass, Goodall, Rodgers, Pownell, McIlwain, Locklin.
