Cobblers reserves were 4-2 winners over a Peterborough United Development team in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday afternoon.
Northampton’s team included first team squad members David Cornell, Raheem Hanley, Rod McDonald, Joel Byrom, Lawson D’Ath and Emmanuel Sonupe, as well as a number of players from the youth team.
One of those youth teamers, Joe Iaciofano, fired the Cobblers ahead in the first half and he doubled the lead with his second after the break.
Winger Sonupe then added a third, before Possh pulled a goal back through Callum Chettle.
Youth teamer Ethan Lamptey made it 4-1 to the Cobblers before Peterborough’s Shaq Coulthirst scored a late penalty .
Assistant manager Paul Wilkinson was pleased with the work out, and said: “It was a really good exercise and both the senior boys and the younger lads applied themselves really well.
“We gave Raheem Hanley 70 minutes while all of the other senior players got 90 minutes and they all came through well.
“It was a good exercise for us in hot conditions, and I was very pleased with the attitude and effort shown by all of the lads involved.”
