Constantine 100% confident he'll win over boo boys
Northampton Town striker Leon Constantine has vowed to rediscover his goalscoring form and prove himself to the club's supporters.
The former Port Vale goal king has had a difficult start to life at Sixfields, and has become something of a target for the club's 'boo boys'.
But Constantine says he is '100 per cent confident' in his own ability and has come out fighting despite some fierce criticism of his early-season performances.
"I'm just waiting for my chance and I know that when it comes, I'll take it," said the former Leeds United man.
"I'm 100 per cent confident in my ability. I've scored a lot of goals in this league and I've scored a lot of goals against big clubs.
"I believe in my ability without a shadow of a doubt. It's a long season and I know I'll get my chance."
Constantine may have to wait for that chance, though, with Adebayo Akinfenwa likely to be recalled for this afternoon's trip to Leicester City.
It is a game Constantine feels the Cobblers can go and take maximum points from – especially after their Carling Cup exploits.
"They're in our league and if we don't feel we can go and beat teams from in our own league then that's not a good way to start," he said.
"We've gone to Premier League clubs and put in good performances and given good accounts of ourselves.
"So going to Leicester won't be any different from any other league game and I think the boys are really looking forward to it.
"Winning these games isn't doing to win you the league. It's all the other teams you need to beat as well.
"It just happens to be that Leicester that we're playing next."
